Welcome to our school website! I hope it will give you a flavour of life at Millfield Primary School as well as provide you with the information you are looking for.
All members of our school staff are committed to our aim of providing the very best learning opportunities and education for the children in our care, enabling them to achieve well, both academically and socially, and to become responsible and valuable members of our community. Our values are underpinned by our Guiding Principles: ‘Be Brave, Try Hard, Join in, Play Fair, Have Fun, Be Kind, Feel Proud’. We believe, through a nurturing ethos, children grow in confidence and curiosity and, with excellent teaching and learning opportunities, they will develop the social, emotional and academic skills to be successful not only here at Millfield, but as they move on to the next stage of their education and on into life.
Children are at the heart of our broad and balanced curriculum. We have chosen a skills and enquiry based approach to learning which enables the children to apply their English and Maths skills and knowledge within a highly motivating context, called a ‘Learning Challenge’. At the start of every Learning Challenge the children think carefully about what they know already and then identify questions they want to find the answers to- these questions, along with the national curriculum programmes of study, drive the focus and direction of each Learning Challenge. Music, the arts and sport also play an important role in developing the ‘whole child’ and at Millfield these are highly valued.
Learning does not only take place within the school day. At Millfield we recognise and value the place of residential visits and we run a number of extra-curricular activities, covering a wide range of interests.
All this can only truly be achieved by building a close and effective partnership with parents and other members of the community. We pride ourselves on having strong relationships with parents, governors, volunteers and other professionals so that we put in place the best possible provision for our children.
If you have a query or you'd like to arrange a visit to the school please do not hesitate to contact the Office Manager Mrs Bidecant, in the first instance- 01353 861612 firstname.lastname@example.org.
