For the academic year 2017/18 there are 2 classes within this upper key stage. There is a Y5 class and a Y6/5 class- the latter is all of our Y6 children and a few Y5.

The teaching team comprises:

Other adults who may work with your child

Sometimes, children are supported by adults other than those who are based solely within the Y5/6 Team. This might include:  Mrs Morris (Social Inclusion Co-ordinator) and Ms O’Loghlen (Family Support Adviser)

 The Y5/6 Curriculum

You will regularly receive a Curriculum Newsletter that informs you of the learning that will be taking place over the next half term, the LCC focus, PE arrangements and trips etc. It will also remind you of arrangements for Home Learning. At some point in the year, the children will take part in swimming lessons over a 6 week period; they travel by coach to the pool at Ely. Music lessons are taught every week throughout Year 5 by the Cambridgeshire Music Service; children follow the National Curriculum for Music and also learn to play a woodwind or brass instrument. Children in Y6 are also taught music by CMS. Parents of Y6 children will be invited to a meeting about SATS at an appropriate time in the year. At the beginning of Y6, the children have the opportunity to take part in a residential visit.

What to do if you have any queries or concerns

In the first instance, please see your child’s class teacher-you can catch them at the end of each school day when they come onto the playground with their class; if this is not possible then pop into, or ring, the School Office and leave a message- the class teacher will contact you as soon as they are able.
