What is Forest School?
Forest School is an inspirational process that offers all children regular opportunities to achieve and develop self confidence and self-esteem through hands- on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.

Forest School at Millfield
At Millfield, we offer learning which takes place in a wooded, natural environment which supports the development of a relationship between children and the natural world. We aim to promote the holistic development of all children involved, with the outlook of fostering resilience, and building confidence, independence and creativity. Forest School is a long term process of regular sessions that the child will experience over their whole school career at the school. It is facilitated by a cycle of planning. observation adaptation and review that links each session. Within these sessions, we offer children the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves. At Millfield, Forest School is run by qualified Forest School practitioners who continuously maintain and develop their professional practice, ensuring the children are provided with the best opportunities while learning outside.
